Slovenia is the perfect destination for active travel enthusiasts and hikers. During this trip, travelers will have the chance to climb Mount Triglav – the highest peak in Slovenia – and enjoy breathtaking hikes in the Julian Alps. We will also visit Lake Bled, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, as well as the nearby Lake Bohinj, stroll through the charming streets of Ljubljana, and try out different via ferrata routes. This program is designed to reveal the true natural beauty of Slovenia while also offering a taste of its culture. With its fairytale-like lakes, waterfalls, caves, and mountains, this country has everything you need for the perfect hiking holiday.
Day 1:
Flight Vilnius – Ljubljana.
Arrival at the airport and transfer to the accommodation.
Trip briefing and rest.
Day 2:
For the first part of the day we will have a 5-6 hours round trip hike to the peak of Veliki Draški (2240m), located in the Julian Alps. On the top we will have a fabulous view to Trigal and the valley. We will eat lunch and start the way down. This hike will serve as a perfect introduction and set the tone for the rest of the trip.
On the way back home we can stop to visit one of the highest waterfalls in Slovenia, Pericnik.
Day 3:
On Tuesday, we will go on a hike along the Austria–Slovenia border. We will cross several peaks, each over 2000 m above sea level, enjoying panoramic views throughout the day. The highlight of this day is Mount Stol (2236 m), one of the most impressive peaks of the Karawanks range. From its summit, you will have unforgettable views of the Julian Alps, the Karawanks, and even the famous Lake Bled. Those who wish can challenge themselves on steeper sections of the ascent.
Day 4:
On this day, we will have the opportunity to try two different types of via ferratas. One route goes along a rock face, and the other passes through a river gorge. Both are fun and of moderate difficulty. In certain sections, there is an option to take a more challenging route, but an easier path is always available, making it suitable for beginners as well.
In case of bad weather, or by group wishes, we can visit nearby caves instead.
Day 5:
This day will be the most challenging of the entire trip, as we will climb the highest mountain in Slovenia. During this hike, we will ascend approximately 1800 meters. Most of the route goes through a valley, but the final section is more technical and requires proper equipment. In good weather, the panorama of the Julian Alps will be spectacular. We will start around 4:00 a.m.
If the group is not very experienced, we may begin the ascent in the evening and stay overnight in the Triglav mountain hut, or consider a hike that does not reach the summit.
Day 6:
On Friday, we will have a relaxing day by Lake Bled. We will swim in the lake, have the option to take a boat ride, or enjoy a walk around the surroundings.
We will also visit the Vintgar Gorge, where turquoise water flows through. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to try rafting.
Day 7:
On this day, we will visit the Valley of the Seven Lakes, where we will explore seven different mountain lakes. Each of them is truly worth seeing. On the way back, we will stop at the stunning Bohinj Lake, which sees significantly fewer tourists than Lake Bled. After swimming in the lake, we will head back to our accommodation.
Day 8:
We will travel to Ljubljana and, depending on the departure time of our flight, have the opportunity to explore the city.
