Andorra – hiking in the Pyrenees

On the days of 1-8th August come to explore the picturesque Pyrenees mountains located right at the border between France and Spain. During the trip we will stay a week in a tiny country of Andorra exploring the scenic hiking trails around. We will climb the highest peak of Andorra Coma Pedrosa (2944m). Without a time in the mountain wilderness, we will have the possibility to visit the Montserrat monastery. We will be staying in a holiday house with mountain views in the country of Andorra.
Day 1:
We will start the day early in the morning at the Vilnius airport with a flight from Vilnius-Barcelona.
We will arrive in the town at 8:25, we will collect the rental car and we will spend the day exploring Montserrat.
In the evening we will have a 2.5-hour drive to our new home for a week in Andorra.
Day 2:
The Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. We will have a 17km circular hike with 1200m of elevation gain. On the way we will enjoy the views of Mainana mountains and we will have a chance to jump in a high altitude crystal clear mountain lake.
Day 3:
On Sunday we will have an easier day with a short 5km hike to Juclars lakes. The path will take us through forests, waterfalls, and stone bridges. The elevation gain will be 450m.
In the evening we will make a BBQ in the house.
Day 4:
We will climb the tallest peak in Andorra (Coma Pedrosa). The hike will take us ~7 hours to complete the trail in a distance of 13,7km. The elevation gain for this hike will be 1385m.
Day 5:
On this day we will start the day with a via ferrata. It will take us approximately 4 hours and for the rest of the day we will visit the local towns and rest.
Day 6:
Wednesday will bring us a 12km hike with 700m of elevation gain to the picturesque lakes of Estany de l’Isla and Estany de Cabana Sorda. On the way we will enjoy the panoramic views of the valley.
Day 7:
We have a hiking day at the France and Andorra border to the peak of Font Blanca. From there we will have a stunning view of the five mountain lakes. On the way back we will stop at Estany Esbalçat, a gorgeous lake where we will enjoy a picnic and a swim. The total walking distance will be 13.15km with an elevation gain of 1400m.
Day 8:
Early drive to the Barcelona el-prat airport. Flight Barcelona-Vilnius.
Arrival in Vilnius at 13:00pm.

The airplane tickets are bought individually on the Ryanair site.
Comfortable hiking shoes are required.
