On July 4-11th join the opportunity to hike 70 km on a picturesque trekking route in Azerbaijan. This scenic trail connects some of the highest mountain villages in the region and offers a unique opportunity to witness the rich cultural and historical diversity of the area. We will cross Alik – Hapit – Khinalig – Galakhudat – Griz– Laza – Kuzun on the way where we will experience breathtaking landscapes, valleys, alpine lakes, forests, teeming with wildlife as you cross the Caucasus Mountains. Explore ancient caravan routes, castles, watchtowers, and ruins, and experience the cultures, cuisines, and traditions of the local people. Without the trek, you will also have a chance to discover the capital town of Baku.
Day 1:
Flight from Vilnius to Baku (Heydar Aliyev Airport), transfer to the hotel and evening rest in our hotel.
Day 2:
This day we will have a tourist day where we will visit the capital city of Baku. We will be visiting the main attractions of the town like the Maiden tower, Shirvanshahs Palace, Highland Park, Flame towers, Baku Boulevard and of course how without the old town. In the town we will have a local guide that will explain to us more in detail some interesting facts about the city. In the evening we will review our hiking itinerary and rest before the active days in the mountains. Overnight in the same hotel.
Day 3:
ALIK VILLAGE – HAPIT VILLAGE – KHINALIQ VILLAGE
Distance: 12 km
Starting altitude: 1600m
Maximum altitude: 2500 m
Finishing altitude: 2154 m
Leaving the village after breakfast, we will trek towards Hapıt village, following the Hapıt river. Upon arriving at Hapıt village, we will explore the village and continue our journey towards Khinaliq village. After a pleasant walk, we will reach Khinaliq village, where we will be staying overnight in a guest house.
Day 4:
KHINALIQ VILLAGE – GALAKHUDAT VILLAGE – GRIZ VILLAGE
Distance: 19 km
Starting altitude: 2154 m
Maximum altitude: 2300 m
Finishing altitude: 2000 m
After breakfast, we will hike towards the village of Griz. During our journey, we will stop for lunch in the village of Galakhudat before continuing on to Griz village. As we trek
through the Gudialchay canyon, we will be able to see the beautiful Gur-gur waterfall.
Continuing on, we will reach the village of Griz where we will explore the historical landmarks of the village. Our accommodation for the night is in a guest house in the village of Griz.
Day 5:
GRIZ VILLAGE – GRIZDAHNA VILLAGE
Distance: 12 km
Height of Griz village: 2020 m
Height of Grizdahna village: 1475 m
Maximum altitude: 2300 m
After breakfast, we will leave our sleeping location and we will hike to Grizdahna village. We will continue our journey down the road. After some time, we will continue our way over the canyon of Gudialchay. We will return to Griz village with our 4×4 car. We will spend the night in Griz.
Day 6:
GRYZ VILLAGE – LAZA VILLAGE
Distance: 20 km
Starting altitude: 2000 m
Maximum altitude: 2700 m
Finishing altitude: 1700 m
After breakfast, we will continue our trek towards the village of Laza. We will cross the meadows of the Mikhtöken range and make our descent towards the village of Laza. Upon arrival, we will explore the waterfalls and the village before settling into our
guesthouses for the night. We spend the night in comfortable guesthouses in the village
of Laza.
Day 7:
LAZA – KUZUN VILLAGE – BAKU
Distance: 7 km
Starting altitude: 1700 m
Maximum altitude: 2380 m
Finishing altitude: 2380 m
After breakfast in Laza, we will head towards Kuzun village. On the way, we will visit the village of Chigirla, located on the banks of the Gusar river. We will continue our journey until we reach the village of Kuzun. Later in the day, we will depart from Kuzun village and head back to Baku.
Day 8:
We will enjoy the morning in Baku and after that we will have a transfer to the airport.
It will include:
3 days at a 4-star hotel and 4 nights at the guesthouses during the trek
Airport tranfers, Baku-Quba-Alik and back to Baku and Qrizdehne-Qriz and Qriz-Laza transportation
3 meals per day during the trek and breakfast in the city
All the tourism fees and national park ticket to Shahdag national park
Tour leader from Lithuania + two local guides during the trek and guide in town
It will NOT include:
Flights Vilnius-Baku and back
Entrance fees to the visited paying monuments during the time in Baku
Dinners in Baku
Additional information:
The group size for this trip is 14 people maximum.
You will be guided by a Lithuanian mountain guide and two local guides mountain guides.
Good hiking shoes are required.
In some of the nights, there will be triple and quadruple rooms during the hike (there is no other options).
The prepayment for the trip is 350€.
