On the days 7-14th of September join the Georgian hiking adventure and explore the wild Caucasian mountains. In this journey, we will have 5 active days of hiking and a few easier days. We will be hiking ~16km per day on average. During the hike, we will be staying in authentic sleeping locations. Some nights will be at the locals’ houses where we will taste a lot of homemade local food and wine. Our itinerary will be from Mestia to Ushguli. This hike will allow you to discover the real beauty of the Georgian mountains and at the same time will challenge yourself.
Day 1:
Wizzair flight Vilnius-Kutaisi.
Arrival and driving from the airport to the mountain town of Mestia. On the way we will stop at Enguri which is one of the tallest water dams in the world. After a small stop at the local market and grocery shop we will reach our first sleeping location. We will be hosted by a local family where we will have a Georgian food degustation.
Day 2:
On this day we will have a 15km hike to Shdugra waterfall that is right at the Russia border. This hike will be an adaptive hike and we will come back to the same sleeping location as the first night.
Day 3:
We will leave Mestia and we will have a 5-6 hour hike to Zhabeshi town. The total distance will be 16km.
Day 4:
On this day we will have another 5-6 hours hike, but with more elevation gain. The total distance will be 11km and we will spend the night in Adishi town.
Day 5:
We will leave our sleeping location and we will have the longest hike in the trip (19km) and approximately 7-8 hours of active time. We will need to cross an ice river on the way and we will reach our tallest point in this journey (2811m above the sea level). The night will be spent at Iprali town.
Day 6:
Last and final hiking day, we will have only 11km to hike, but we will reach the tallest city in Europe located at 2200m above the level. Ushguli is part of the UNESCO heritage. We will visit the town and will take the bus back to Mestia.
For the evening we will have a sauna and pool to recover after the hike.
Day 7:
We will leave the town of Mestia in the early morning and we will have a transfer to Kutaisi. For the rest of the day we will have free time to explore the city.
Day 8:
Wizzair flight Kutaisi-Vilnius
It will include:
7 nights of accommodation in hotels and at locals houses
All the transportation in the country (personal local driver with a minibus)
7 breakfast and 7 dinners
Tour leader from Lithuania that will meet you in the Kutaisi airport
Breathing class from our guide
It will NOT include:
Wizzair flight tickets Vilnius-Kutaisi-Vilnius
The pool and sauna area in after the last hiking day
Additional information:
The group size for this trip is 12 people.
You will be guided by a Lithuanian mountain guide hosting hikes in Caucasus mountains since 2017.
The backpack should be 10kg maximum. The item list will be sent once the registration form is filled.
Good hiking shoes are required.
In some of the nights, there will be triple and quadruple rooms (there is no other options).
The prepayment for the trip is 250€.
